A Therapist’s Guide to Homeschool with Teva Johnstone, LCSW

Teva Johnstone is a therapist and unschooling mom. She decided to homeschool her daughter because she wanted to preserve her beautiful spirit. Teva knew that could best be achieved outside of traditional school. She's been a social worker and therapist for almost a decade and has been featured on numerous panels and podcasts on the topics of parenting, homeschool, and autism and neurodiversity.

She was inspired to focus her practice on differently wired kids when she became a mother to a spirited child. Professionally, she noticed a gap in knowledge and dignified treatment of autistic and highly sensitive kids, so she made it her mission to help turn things around within the field of mental health.

When she opened her child therapy practice, she learned there was a need for parental care, education and support. So, she pivoted her approach to more broadly assist parents.

She believes homeschool is a great way to foster children's mental health and development. She is passionate about freeing the youth from government school and watching them soar.

Teva lives in Southern California and homeschools her daughter in a beautiful corner of the universe.

And in this episode, Teva shares about pursuing a parenting path that is different from the norm, how to know if homeschool is right for your child, plus all about her course A Therapist's Guide To Homeschool that will help you give your child better than the status quo so they can have a rich education and be emotionally and socially well.
