About Ryan Forbes

Ryan Forbes is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Ruston, Louisiana, holding counseling licenses in Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina, and Florida. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2008.

With over a decade of diverse clinical experience, Ryan began his career in Lexington, Kentucky, specializing in substance abuse treatment for individuals. He later transitioned to Sulphur, Louisiana, working for the Methodist Children's Home, where he provided specialized therapeutic interventions for juveniles who had committed sexual offenses. While in Sulphur, Ryan launched his first cash-only private practice, challenging the traditional path to private practice success. In 2015, he moved to Ruston, Louisiana, where he joined the Home Office of the Methodist Children's Home as Clinical Program Manager, overseeing a team of 10 therapists and hundreds of direct care workers. In addition to his leadership role, Ryan established another private practice, maintaining a caseload of adult clients and continuing his cash-only approach with minimal advertising. This experience led him to broaden his professional skill set and begin offering specialized training.

Ryan has presented at numerous conferences, both in person and online, on a variety of topics, including Telehealth (3 hours), Ethics (3 hours), The Use of AI in Counseling (1.5 hours), and Working with Highly Driven/Highly Successful Clients (1.5 hours). His presentations have reached audiences across Louisiana and beyond.

On a personal note, Ryan’s greatest accomplishment to date is his relationship with his wife of 25 years and his 4 children.
